Olivet's worship service is traditional, comfortable, and inspiring. We are a family church, and we include children's time during the service. We truly believe there are no strangers In God's house.


SUNDAY SCHOOL

Our Sunday School program, which Is offered at 11:00 on Sundays right after the main service, has a place for everybody. Our classes are small, warm, And friendly.

TUESDAY NIGHT BIBLE STUDY

After Labor day And going To the End Of April, we have a Tuesday night Bible Study For adults Of all ages. We meet Each week, except the 2nd Tuesday night of each month, because that has historically been when our ladies circles have met.

The Tuesdsay night Bible Study Is a great time of fellowship, study and prayer. We would love for you to join us!

Olivet has several classes available For chldren And young adults.
Our nursery Is available For infants And toddlers.
We have a Kindergarten Class available For children who can talk.
Our First And Second graders have a Class all their own.
Our next class Is for children grades 3 through 6.

About Olivet

Who We Are

We are a country church In the city limits, where you'll hear the simple tones of a piano accompaniment to the volunteer choir of 12 to 15 voices. You'll be inspired by old standard hymns of Presbyterian background and experience a school.


Olivet History

The Olivet Church had her beginnings In 1872, As a mission organized by members Of First Presbyterian Church Of Staunton. Those engaged In mission work were Mr. And Mrs. Talbot, B. Coleman, Mary Lushbaugh, And Mrs. Sarah A. Kayser.

Our Pastor

Rev. Lee Thomas grew up In North Carolina. He Is graduate Of Montreat College And Union Theological Seminary Of Richmond. Lee felt God calling him into ministry while a college student. A love for music And childhood piano lessons equipped him to serve.


Leadership

Our church has a unicameral system With 18 Elders elected For three rotating years. Each elder Is elected by the congregation And ordained For their invaluable role In a special ceremony before the congregation.


Committees

Most Of the day-To-day operations In our church are done by various committees. The hard work Of these dedicated individuals Is appreciated by our entire congregation.
